-- your local expert in the gunks --

Advanced Rockcraft LLC offers unparalleled guidance and instruction of patrons through mountainous terrain, particularly technical rock and ice climbing. Advanced Rockcraft also coaches climbers in developing their technical, physical and mental prowess on the cliffs.

Climbing is inherently risky. Expert-level instruction is crucial whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned climber looking to take your climbing to the next level. Fortunately, you're in the right place: Dustin Portzline is your guide, and he shares insights gained during thousands of days on a rope. Together, you'll form a team to assess and manage risk while you receive real-time feedback and tips for improving your movement and technical skills from an accomplished climber.

Offerings range from introductions to outdoor climbing, to multi-day outings, to prolonged apprenticeships. Every day is custom tailored to meet your goals.

Testimonials

Dustin’s mentorship has unlocked a whole new world for me to explore. Not only is he incredibly thoughtful and generous with the hard skills he teaches, he is excellent at coaching mental development. He is an expert climber and guide, but continues to maintain a voracious appetite for continued learning and improvement. I can honestly say that setting up a “learn to lead” course with Dustin four years ago was one of the best investments I have made.

Thank you so much for working with our son last week. He had the best experience. He enjoyed the challenge of the outdoors, putting his gym climbing skills to use and learning new ones from you!

Thanks again for your ice climbing teachings. I had a fantastic time and was way more comfortable on the ice than I had ever imagined.
— TOM K., NEW YORK CITY

Michiel and I had a fantastic day out. The day was beautiful, the climbing excellent and Dustin was the ultimate guide. He is super competent, fun to hang out with and somehow knew exactly which routes we would enjoy. Dustin (and the quality of the routes) made our day memorable.
